This all started about 2 years ago when my son started getting more into video games and although anyone can setup an emulator on their PC, it really is a hassle. With Emulation Station it packs it all into one folder that, once configured, can be operated entirely from a controller, making it feel like a console. It comes with a ton of extra features, one of which is a kid mode that keeps you in the game or games menu, making it a seamless, hassle-free experience so you don't have to worry about touching settings or your kid feeling like it's overcomplicated.

I am also a bit of a completionist and have been working to make the most complete and aesthetically pleasing sets I can by renaming them to just the titles, as well as finding accompanying data sheets and artwork—all for the sake of one day completing it so it can be as simple as download, extract, grab a controller, and play just like when we were kids. Anyways, I'm actively developing it in the hopes of sharing it with everyone.
